Rolex GMT-Master 16750 Pepsi
Rolex GMT-Master 16750 Pepsi
The Rolex 16750 is arguably one of the more important GMT references. The 16750 is famous for housing the 3075 movement, a vast improvement over the 1675's movement, and features a quick-set date for the first time in GMT-Master history. Among collectors, the 16750 is one of the earliest GMTs that is preferred for daily wear, with 100m of water resistance, double that of the 1675, and features a quick-set date plus hacking seconds giving it a modern feel and ultimate ease of use. This reference ran from 1980 to roughly '89. Prior to 1986, all of the dials came matte black with painted tritium indices, and were then replaced with the newer glossy dials with applied white gold tritium filled indices.
This particular example comes from 1984, although has the newer '86+ glossy dial, which was replaced by Rolex during a routine service. The lacquer on the dial has a few hairline scratches on it, giving it a slight "spider dial" aesthetic, which have become wildly popiular. The bezel is still original, and has some light scratches on it and shows strong colors given the age. Overall, this example is in good but not perfect shape, which makes it ideal for anyone looking for a vintage daily driver.
